Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The Adams State women's soccer team scored a shorthanded goal eight minutes into the first overtime period to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium.

In a game that featured 22 fouls, six yellow cards, one player ejection and two penalty kicks, Adams went home happy when senior forward Jessica Hellweg scored at the 97:42 mark of the overtime period.

On the game winning play, Hellweg was one of three Grizzlies taking on one Loper defender and keeper Marissa Niday (Fremont). Niday came charging out but couldn't stop Hellweg's shot, which was from about 15 yards out. This marked Hellweg's team-leading 10th goal of the year.

UNK started the scoring at 17:11 when sophomore Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, Colo.) came flying down the left wing and sent a shot towards the Adams goal. The ball deflected off a defender and into the back of the net for Mercer's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

Not even a minute later, Adams tied things up when Drumm converted on a penalty kick. That marked her first goal of the fall.

Overall, UNK out shot Adams 14-10 with Stempel, who came in midway through the first half, making eight saves.

Finally for the Lopers, four seniors played their final collegiate game today. They were Morgan Abert, Talisha Krason, Katie Larghe and Melanie Patrick
