Kearney, Neb. - The 4th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team rolled past Newman, Oklahoma City U. and Neosho County Community College Wednesday at OCU.
The Lopers (4-2), in back-to-back-to-back duals, started off with an exhibition win over Neosho, 43-4, then beat the host Stars, 25-13, who are ranked fourth in the NAIA. Finally, for the fifth straight year, UNK dominated Division II Newman (Kans.), 33-9.
In each dual, action started at 174 lbs. The win over Neosho doesn't go towards the Loper dual record due to NCAA rules regarding competition vs. junior colleges. Click

Mark Fiala (3:52) at 174 lbs., redshirt freshman

The Lopers fell behind OCU, 4-0, as third-ranked Derek Peperas posted a major decision victory to start things off. UNK eventually took control thanks to four straight wins between 133-157 lbs., highlighted by back to back fall from junior
Stephen Weimer (Clovis, Calif.) and Jensen (Missouri Valley, Ia.) at 133 and 141 lbs.
In the dual vs. the Jets, UNK had two forfeit wins, a 2:08 fall from junior
Brock Smith (Gering) at 174 lbs. and decisions by senior
Kazuhiro Fujinawa (133 lbs.) and redshirt freshman
Tyler Anderson (149 lbs.) to rack up the points.
UNK is at sixth-ranked Central Oklahoma Thursday night.
