Kearney, Neb. - Looking to solidify its chances of making the eight-team MIAA Tournament, the Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team hits the road this weekend to face Lindenwood and Truman State.

The game in St. Charles, Mo., against the Lions (4-7-1, 0-7) will kick off at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Two days later, UNK will head North to Kirksville to battle a tough Truman squad (11-2-1, 7-1).

Live stats for the Lindenwood game are available HERE with the link for TSU being HERE.

Lindenwood is a fellow MIAA newcomer and a former NAIA school. Still looking for its first conference win, LWU has had trouble stopping the opposition, surrendering a league-high 24 goals in seven MIAA games.

The Lions have had a string of bad luck, losing five contests by a single goal, including a 2-1 OT decision to Missouri Western State.

Senior Courtney Bresnahan (15 points; seven goals) and junior Bailey Cody (14 points; five goals) are among the MIAA point leaders with Ole Miss transfer Jade Davis (3-6-1, 1.80 GAA) the top keeper.

Truman, led by its defense, has spent time in the Top 25 this fall. The Bulldogs lead the MIAA in assists (27), rank second in points (85/6.07 pg) and have allowed only seven goals all season.

Riding a three-game winning streak heading into a Friday tilt with Fort Hays State, Truman is paced by junior keeper Emily Bozdeck, who has an impressive 10 shut outs and a 0.49 GAA.

In front of Bozdeck is an offense that features junior Trisha Shoemaker (21 points; nine goals) and a pair of five goal scorers in senior Kelsey Twellman and freshman Alexis Heffernan.

Currently in 10th place in the MIAA standings, the Lopers are just a few points behind sixth place Hays.

Other teams Kearney wants to see lose at this point are Southwest Baptist, Washburn and Missouri Southern State.

Ranked second in the conference in corners (85/5.7 pg) and seventh in shots (175/11.7 pg), UNK is looking for its third road win of the season after beating Sioux Falls and the College of St. Mary earlier this fall.

Since coming off the disabled list, junior Becka Talcott (Denver, Colo.) has scored three times, two being game winners in overtime. Her 11 career goals put her second behind Raleigh Mercer (14) in school history.

Also, Talcott (nine) and freshman Montanna Hosterman (eight) both are tied for fourth on the team in scoring (seven points) despite each playing in less than 10 games. Hostermann just came back from injury last weekend and is one of many Lopers to have missed some time this season.

UNK finishes up the regular season next Friday at Fort Hays State. The MIAA Tournament starts, on campus sites, Tuesday October 30th.
