8-0 (5 innings) and
7-3, Wednesday in Omaha.
UNO, playing its first home games of the 2012 season, improves to 15-12 while the Lopers fall to 11-17. This also marked the first-ever games played at UNO's new Westside Field at Westbrook.
In game one, Elsasser (8-6) struck out three, walked one and gave up singles to freshman shortstop
Mallory Noakes (Lincoln SW) and senior second baseman
Ali Seberger (Lexington).
UNO managed eight runs on seven hits, three walks and two Loper errors. Scoring twice in the first, the Mavs busted things open with a three-run third and a three-run fourth.
Just five of UNO's runs were earned with senior center fielder Katelyn Hinton (2 for 2, two runs, one RBI) and senior second baseman Ashley Lynch (2 for 2, one run, one RBI) pacing the offense.
From the five hole, Lutmer went 2 for 3 with two runs and four RBI's in the night cap. After Hinton belted a two-run homer in the fifth to give UNO a three-run cushion, Lutmer followed with her second dinger of the game, a solo shot to left.
Besides Hinton (1 for 2, two runs, two RBI's), Elasser earned a save by striking out three and allowing no hits in three innings.
For UNK, Noakes (3 for 3, two RBI's) had three doubles and junior
