Kearney, Neb. – The top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team is the No. 1 seed in this weekend's NWCA (National Wrestling Coaches Association)/Cliff Keen National Duals in Springfield, Ill.
The Lopers (2-0), who won this tournament in 2003 and 2007, face 17th-ranked Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
The Rangers lost to Kearney, 23-14, in the last meeting between the two. UWP features top-ranked Dillon Bera (157 lbs.), fourth-ranked James Malechek (285 lbs.) and seventh-ranked Matt Gille (184 lbs.).
Win or lose, UNK will face either 8th-ranked Findlay (Ohio) or 9th-ranked Minnesota State at 1:00 p.m. in the next round.
Also on the Lopers side of the bracket is 4th-ranked St. Cloud State, 5th-ranked Upper Iowa, 20th-ranked Kutztown (Pa.) and North Carolina-Pembroke.
