Kearney, Neb. – The 39th-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos swept all three doubles matches and took four singles matches to beat Nebraska-Kearney,
7-2, Saturday afternoon at Harmon Park.
UCO, also ranked third in the Central Region, improves to 12-2 (7-2) while the Lopers fall to 13-5 (3-4). UNK is seventh in the Central.
At No. 1 doubles, the region's fifth-ranked pair of Antonella Rossini and Rose Cabato posted an 8-5 victory over juniors
Vanessa Gunawan (Indonesia) and
Heather Connolly (Highland Village, Texas), who are ninth in the Central.
Gunawan posted her 16th singles victory, besting Rossini in straight sets in the top spot. Sophomore
Kristin Weems (Arlington, Texas) then upset 14th-ranked Petra Pesic (5-7, 7-5, 10-5) at No. 2 singles to post UNK's other win.
The Lopers could've added a third point but Cabato rallied past Connolly at No. 4 singles (4-6, 6-0, 10-4).
Both UNK teams host Concordia on Wednesday evening at six.
