Kearney, Neb. – The 2nd-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team ran its win streak to 10 straight after a
47-0 decision over Newman Saturday night at the Health & Sports Center.

UNK improves to 15-3 and finishes 2013-14 with a perfect 6-0 record vs. MIAA competition; the Jets (0-12, 0-6) are an affiliate member of the league in wrestling.
With one dual remaining (Feb. 19th at Chadron State), this is the Lopers longest win streak since the 2006-07 squad beat 16 straight opponents.

At 141 lbs., senior
Brock Coutu (Griswold, Conn.) was up 6-3 before pinning Wyatt Wade at 3:55. Junior
Tyler Anderson (Clay Center, Kans.) was about to tech fall Zach Duwe at the next weight but pinned him at 3:43 instead.

UNK's only major of the night came at 165 lbs. where 5th-ranked
Brock Smith (Gering) had three takedowns in the first and third periods to win 17-5.

Senior
Patrick Martinez (Hemet, Calif.) literally worked over Michael Kubik at 174 lbs. Ranked fourth nationally, Martinez had 10 takedowns in the first period and added four more in the second to record a 28-13 tech fall at 4:20.

Finally, at 197 lbs., top-ranked
Romero Cotton (Hutchinson, Kans.) pinned Steven Cooklsey 52 seconds into the match.
