Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The 12th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team used a balanced attack to sweep Pittsburg State (-12, -14, -11) Friday night in Kansas.
The Lopers improve to 17-4 (7-2) while the Gorillas fall to 1-18 (1-8).
UNK had five different players between six and nine kills, led by sophomores
Kaitlynn Thomas (Yutan) and
Tara Ziegelbein (Lincoln Lutheran H.S.). A middle hitter, Ziegelbein had eight kills in 16 swings to hit .500 with junior right side
Annie Wolfe (Omaha Marian H.S.) at six kills, seven digs and two assists. Thomas provided a team-high nine kills, two blocks and two digs.
The Lopers, who never trailed or were tied the entire night, hit a solid .302 (39-13-86) with Pitt at a negative .057 (19-24-88). UNK finished with 4.5 team blocks.
Kearney faces 11th-ranked Central Oklahoma on Saturday.
