Kearney, Neb. – The fifth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling was dominant early on to beat Central Missouri,
37-10, Saturday afternoon in Warrensburg.
The Lopers (12-2, 3-0) won the first six matches to open up a 28-0 lead. The victories included a 10 second fall by top-ranked
Daniel DeShazer at 133 pounds and a 25 second fall by Lincoln senior
Chase White at 157 pounds.
In between these pins, Illinois sophomore
Keith Surber (141 lbs.) and South Dakota junior
Destin McCauley (149 lbs.) had tech falls by a combined score of 35-4.
Later, top-ranked
Romero Cotton had a 48 second fall to win at 197 pounds. The Kansas native is now 11-1 on the year with six falls, a tech fall and a major decision.
UNK is home the next two weekends, first facing the Newman (Kans.) Jets next Saturday in Cushing Coliseum. That MIAA dual begins at 7:00 p.m.
