Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Freshman outside hitter
Allison Kuenle had a match-high 10 kills and the fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team served up 11 aces to sweep Missouri Southern State (-16, -12, -11) Saturday evening at the Health & Sports Center.
This was the Lopers (29-1, 13-1) final regular season home match. They'll likely host an MIAA Tournament first round match on Tuesday, November 15th.
UNK also honored its lone senior, right side
Annie Wolfe (Omaha Marian H.S.), prior to first serve. Fittingly, the 2015 All-American served up six straight points at the end of the third set before being subbed out on match point. Wolfe ended the night with her typical all-around effort; eight assists, eight kills, seven digs, two aces and a block solo.
From the outside, Kuenle (North Platte H.S.) reached her kill total in 21 swings to hit a solid .333. As a team, UNK hit just .250 but did come in at .385 (17-2-39) in the final set.
After serving up seven aces to sweep Southwest Baptist Friday night, Kearney upped the ante with a season-high total tonight. Besides Wolfe, freshman middle
Mackenzie Puckett (Grand Island H.S.) had five and sophomore setter
Lindsey Smith (Dakota Dunes, S.D.) two.
The 11 aces are the most by a UNK team in nine years and seven from tying the school record. Finally for the Lopers, Smith had 24 assists, 11 digs and five kills in eight attempts (.625 pct.).
Missouri Southern (4-21, 1-11) saw Sydney Dose have nine kills and seven digs.
UNK heads to Missouri Western State and nationally-ranked Northwest Missouri State next weekend.
