Kearney, Neb. – The sixth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team dominated both the
Augustana Duals and
Doane University Open Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Crete.
UNK (4-2) won four duals by a combined score of 159-26 while having all seven entries place in the top five at Doane.
At Augustana, the Lopers beat the 16th-ranked host Vikings (27-11), Southwest Minnesota State (39-6), Truman State, Mo. (51-0) and NAIA Morningside College, Ia. (42-6). The 51-point win over the TSU Bulldogs, former MIAA members, is UNK's largest since a 55-0 pasting of Texas-Arlington in 2010.
The Lopers, still not a full strength, won 34 of the 40 matches with one of the setbacks coming due to a forfeit. Among the 34 "W's" were 14 falls, six majors and three tech falls.
Oklahoma sophomore

Walker Johnson (149 lbs.). Finally, top-ranked
Destin McCauley (157 lbs.) went 2-0, recording a fall in 1:26 and a 4-1 decision over Augie's Tyler Nation.
Well down the road in Crete, true freshman

UNK is now off until New Year's Eve when it takes part in the annual Viking-Warrior Open in Fremont.
