Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis was again dominant in doubles to beat Missouri Western State,
7-2, Tuesday afternoon in Grand Island.
Due to high winds, this MIAA dual was moved from Kearney's Harmon Park to the Racquet Center of Grand Island.
Ranked sixth in the Central Region, UNK (10-3, 2-1) won the three doubles matches by scores of 8-5, 8-6 and 8-2. Sweeping doubles for the seventh time this season, the Lopers' six different doubles teams are now a combined 29-10.
While the improving Griffons (6-2, 1-2) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, UNK won the other matches in straight sets. Senior
Paula Jimenez (Spain) clinched the dual with a 6-3, 6-3, decision at No. 3 singles with sophomore
Emma Neil (Papillion) moving to 12-1 after blanking her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.
UNK faces the Lincoln Blue Tigers Thursday afternoon and then tangles with the 11th-ranked Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Friday.
