#3 UCM Remains Perfect

Kearney, Neb. – Third-ranked Central Missouri scored two goals in each half to beat Nebraska Kearney, 4-0, Friday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

The Jennies improve to 9-0 and have now outscored its competition by a 22-0 margin.

A fast and athletic UCM squad struck for two goals in the first 13 minutes. Finishing with 22 shots on the night, the first score was a breakaway as senior Abby Rhodes got by a Loper defender to record her seventh goal of the season.

Seven minutes later, freshman Makayla Toth got away from UNK and a diving Ali Hirschman (Millard South) couldn't stop her. Toth then had an easy tap in for her seventh goal of the fall.

UNK had four chances to be the first team to score on UCM but two shots sailed high and two were stopped by three-time All-American keeper Ana Dilkes.

Taking eight corners, UCM also scored in the 49th and 70th minutes. Junior Jada Scott recorded the first goal, an empty netter from 20 yards out, with freshman Haley Freeman finding the left post after taking a pass from senior Kayla Hamner.

"That's a very good UCM team and they are number three in the nation for a reason. They are very organized, right from the keeper to the forward. They move the ball very well ... one two touch makes it very hard on the other team," said Loper head coach Chloe Roberts. "They attack as a unit and defend as a unit. They are also quick on the transition, both on the attack and on defense. They are going to cause a lot of teams problems."

Omaha senior Carley Brown had two of UNK's four shots with Hastings senior Marika Van Brocklin and Colorado junior Michaela Hoffman having the others. Hirschman recorded 10 saves, including stopping a penalty kick in the 77th minute.

"We played our game the whole 90 minutes. We could've sat back and packed it in but we decided to play our style which is moving the ball, possession soccer. I don't regret that decision at all. We had four mistakes and four goals got scored. That's a sign of a good team," said Roberts. "We needed to be a little quicker in certain areas. In parts of the game, we were better than them. Those parts need to become halves and then a full game."

UNK hosts Lindenwood (3-6-0, 0-2-0) Sunday at 1 p.m.
