Big Innings Power Kearney in Arkansas

Kearney, Neb. – All nine starters recorded a hit and sophomore reliever Peyton Pocock threw four strong innings to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Ouachita Baptist, 13-7, Sunday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Lopers improve to 2-4 while the Tigers, from the Great American Conference, fall to 2-5.

UNK pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of nine walks and five errors to score its runs. The Lopers scored four in the first, eight in the fourth and one more in the ninth. Senior first baseman Ricky Trammell (Kansas City) had a three-run double in the first with sophomore first baseman Ty Roseberry (Kearney) and junior right fielder Pate Katechis (Longmont, Colo.) hitting back-to-back homers in the big fourth inning.

Roseberry, from the cleanup spot, remained on fire as he went 4 for 4 with two runs and two RBI's while Trammell (1 for 5), Katechis (1 for 3) and senior designated hitter Dallas Schramm (1 for 4) each knocked in at least two runs. Roseberry is now at .737 (14 for 19) on the year.

Earning his first win as a Loper, Pocock (Kearney) shut out OBU for four straight innings. He fanned four, walked just one and gave up only one hit. Junior lefty Alex Achtermann (Denver) got the start and allowed two earned in three innings with senior right hander Thomas Ruwe (Arlington) throwing a scoreless ninth.

OBU saw freshman third baseman Tyler Riebock go 1 for 3 with four RBI's.

UNK heads West next weekend to face Colorado-Colorado Springs and Regis University.
