No. 20 Bronchos Remain Perfect

Kearney, Neb. – Senior forward Katie Killion tallied a hat trick to help 20th-ranked Central Oklahoma beat Nebraska-Kearney, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

UCO (10-0-0, 3-0-0) remains unbeaten on the year and has now outscored its competition by an impressive 33-2 margin. Meanwhile, UNK (4-6-0, 2-1-0) suffers its first MIAA loss of the fall.

A high-powered Bronchos attack ended the cold and rainy day with 20 shots and eight corners. Killion, bouncing back after an injury plagued junior season, tallied her first goal just six minutes into the action. Now with a Division II-leading 12 goals on the year, she took advantage of a turnover deep in UNK territory and scored from within the box.

Omaha senior keeper Ali Hirschman kept the Lopers in it by making 10 saves. Down just 1-0 at the half, UNK saw the 'Chos tally an insurance goal early in the second half. Junior forward Asha Haile went top shelf from the left wing at the 52 minute mark to record her fifth goal of the young season.

Killion then struck in the 61st and 64th minutes with senior Morgan Cherry scoring her fifth goal of the fall at 69:24. Both Killion's goals were breakaways and rebound shots with Cherry banging one in from the right wing.

Overall, Killion had seven shots with Haile adding four and sophomore midfielder Kelsie Eason at three. UNK got shots from Norfolk junior Maddie Love and Omaha junior Megan Merkel.

The Lopers remain at home next weekend to face Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State.
