UNK Runs Saturday Morning in Texas

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney cross country teams will finish up a short fall season by running in the Division II National Invitational Saturday morning in Lubbock, Texas.

The Lopers and the other competing teams and individuals had to qualify for this meet. With the NCAA canceling all Division II fall sports championships, this meet allows runners to face national competition.

A panel of head coaches from around the country came up with national and regional rankings this fall as well as the criteria to make it to Texas. Lubbock Christian is serving as the host school with the meet being held on the Chaparral Cross Country Course. The men's 10k starts at 9:30 a.m. with the women running at 6k beginning at 10:15. An open race at 11 follows with an awards ceremony at 11:45 a.m.

The top 25 finishers in each race will be recognized as members of the All-Invite team with the top four teams on each side receiving an award as well. Live results will be available.

Both UNK squads will be a little short-handed due to injuries; note the indoor track season is just around the corner and then the outdoor season begins in late March. The Lopers are coming off first (men) and third (women) place showings at the Newman Team Championships on October 30.
