First of Three Duals in Arkansas

Kearney, Neb. – The Harding Bison won three closes matches to down Nebraska-Kearney, 6-1, Thursday afternoon in Russellville, Ark.

HU, from the Great American Conference, improves to 6-1 while the Lopers are now 2-5. This dual was supposed to take place last week in Springfield, Mo., but was postponed due to weather.

In doubles Harding won by scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (3) at the first two spots to take the doubles point. UNK's number two team consists of freshman Myrzaiym "Mia" Sherikulova (Kyrgyzstan) and sophomore Brooklyn Hunter (Topeka, Kan.).

Sherikulova got past senior Hana Folse at number two singles (6-1, 2-6, 10-6) but UNK lost two others in three sets. Freshman Melissa Becerra (Colombia) fell at number one, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5, with freshman Jazmin Zamorano (Mexico) suffering the same fate at number three; 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Becerra lost to a fifth-year senior with Zamorano's foe being a junior.

UNK stays in Russellville to face Henderson State Friday and Arkansas Tech on Saturday.
