#6 Rogers Advances; Lopers Vs. Hornets Saturday Morning

Kearney, Neb. – Senior Andrea Morales, the MIAA Pitcher of the Year, stymied Nebraska-Kearney again to help sixth-ranked Rogers State take a winner's bracket game over the Lopers, 9-0 (5 innings), in the MIAA Tournament Friday night in Edmond, Okla.

Seventh-seeded UNK (24-26) faces eighth-seeded Emporia State (25-29) Saturday at 10 a.m. in an elimination game. A win over the Hornets, who Kearney split with this year, would mean a game at 5:30 p.m. against the winner of Central Oklahoma/Missouri Western. E-State upset fifth-seed Northeastern State, 2-0, earlier on Friday. 

UNK upset 5th-ranked UCO on Thursday night but couldn't do the same against the 6th-ranked Hillcats (45-9) who improve to 8-0 all-time vs. the Lopers. Morales (28-3) has faced Kearney three times this year and has tossed a no-hitter while fanning 35, walking two and allowing just three hits in 17.0 innings.

RSU, from Claremore, Okla., tallied four in the first and four more in the fifth to advance. The bottom of the order provided production as sophomore catcher Callie Yellin went 1 for 2 with two runs and two RBI's with senior left fielder Makayla Bowman at 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

Lincoln freshman designated payer Lyndsey Roth led off the game with a double to right center while Omaha sophomore left fielder Abbie Jo Gaube having a single to center in the fifth. In the circle, Colorado sophomore Stacy Bott tossed the fifth and didn't allow an earned run.
