Big Second Half Sparks Bearcats

Kearney, Neb. – The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats scored four second half goals to down Nebraska Kearney, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in Maryville.

Northwest improves to 5-3-2 (1-2-0) while the Lopers fall to 0-8-2 (-0-2-1).

The game was tied for the first 54 minutes before sophomore forward Adell Gore tallied her first goal of the year. She headed in a cross from sophomore Sophie Cissell who was in the right corner.

About 10 minutes later, junior forward Kaitlyn Case recorded her third goal of the fall via a penalty kick and then junior Teagan Blackburn (72:02) and freshman defender Zoie Dible (85:55) added some insurance. The 'Cats finished with 14 shots on goal with Gore and Case having three apiece.

For the Lopers, true freshmen Kea Barnes (Aurora, Colo.) and Mia Lang (Papillion) got off shots. Sophomore keeper Mackenzie Smith (Lincoln) stopped 10 shots with veterans Cammie Davis (Wichita), Lily Engeman (Spring Hill, Kan.) and Dolcie Hanlon (Grand Junction, Colo.) going all 90 minutes. Finally, the Lopers had scored a goal in its past four games. 

UNK remains on the road next weekend, traveling to Newman (0-9-1, 0-3-0) and Central Oklahoma (6-1-2, 2-0-1).
