2025 MIAA Women's Tennis Preseason Poll Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its preseason coaches poll for the 2025 women's tennis season. Washburn was selected as the top team in the league by MIAA head coaches for the second consecutive season. 

Coaches vote on the makeup of the poll and cannot select their own team. 

The Ichabods collected 78 points and the majority first place votes in the 2025 MIAA preseason coaches poll. Washburn finished the 2024 season with a league record of 6-2 while ending the season 20-6 overall. The Bods suffered a 4-2 loss to Nebraska Kearney in the 2024 MIAA postseason tournament but went on to advance to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Lopers were picked second by MIAA head coaches with 72 points and one first place selection. Nebraska Kearney captured the program's first-ever MIAA regular season title with a 2024 league record of 7-1. As the top seed in the MIAA championship tournament, the Lopers advanced to the title match where they suffered a 4-2 loss to Missouri Western. UNK was the only MIAA team to advance to the 2024 NCAA Division II Elite Eight where they suffered a 4-0 loss to the defending Division II National Champion, Barry (Fla.) University.

Central Oklahoma tabbed the No. 3 spot in the poll with 61 points and the remaining first place vote while Missouri Western was selected fourth with 55 points. Missouri Western finished second in the 2024 regular season standings and went on to win the program's first-ever women's tennis tournament title with a 4-2 victory over the Lopers in the championship match.  Finally, Northwest Missouri concluded the coaches' top five with 54 points.

UNK went 3-0 in fall duals and starts the semester Feb. 2 against Hastings College at the Grundy Tennis Center. The 2025 spring roster features four upperclassmen and five underclassmen.
