Kearney, Neb. – The top-ranked Nebraska Kearney wrestling team had three bonus point wins to get past No. 25 Chadron State, 22-13, Friday night at Kearney High School.

Due to the NCAA Central Regional Volleyball Tournament, this dual was moved to KHS and in conjunction with duals for the Bearcats boys' and girls' team.

UNK was up just 14-13 heading into the final two weight classes, but top-ranked Jackson Kinsella (197 lbs.) used a first period takedown to win 5-1 at and then second-ranked Crew Howard (285 lbs.) chalked up four takedowns to post a 16-1 tech fall. In the early going, second-ranked Zach Ourada (133 lbs.) got the Lopers on the board with a 12-0 major decision that featured three takedowns and riding time.

"Guys wrestled solid. A good test for us early; Chadron is a good team that I think will go contend for an RMAC title this year and qualify a few for nationals," said UNK head coach Dalton Jensen to KGFW Sports Director Alex Hammeke. "I'm pleased they came over here and gave us a push, test ourselves before we go up to St. Cloud next week."

Finally, junior Otgonbayar Batsuuri (174-lbs.) had a 12-3 major thanks to three first-period takedowns with nationally ranked Cael Robb (157 lbs.) and Trenton Munoz (165 lbs.) having back-to-back decisions by a combined score of 9-3.

"You don't this (high school and colleges competing at the same time) in a lot of sports. Wrestling provides us that opportunity and the tight-knit community and wrestling family we have in Kearney, from the Mat Kat level to the college, is unmatched," said Jensen. "The KHS staff is full of our alumni and we continue to be a resource for each other."

Some Lopers head to the annual Bob Smith Open Sunday at Fort Hays State with the varsity set up for a clash at No. 9 St. Cloud State next Friday night in Minnesota. The Huskies have taken all five duals with UNK, including a 20-19 decision last year at Buckle Court.
