Two More Records Fall on Day Three

2/13/2025 9:15:00 PM

Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney junior Maggie Waddington and freshman Kayla Milligan set school-records on the third day of the 2025 RMAC Championships in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Aqualopers have scored 196 points to be in seventh place and ahead of Texas-Permian Basin and Adams State. Colorado State-Pueblo (208) is in sixth with Colorado Mesa (923) having nearly a 300-point lead over the second-place team.

In the morning, Milligan (Valley Center, Kan.) set a new UNK standard in the 100-butterfly with Waddington (Norfolk) doing the same in a 200-backstroke time trial. Milligan went on to reach the "B" finals while Waddington has her second school-record of the meet

Milligan turned in an altitude converted 58.55 which broke the 58.69 Karley Bennett swam in Feb. 2023. She finished 16th overall as she managed a converted 59.27 in the evening finals. Next, Waddington swam a converted 2:08.51 in the time trial which easily bests the 2:10.98 she achieved last month in Iowa.

In other events, junior Gabby Grace (Topeka, Kan.) turned in a converted 4:54.20 to place 22nd in the 400-individual medley "C" finals. The time is a new personal-best and keeps her fifth in the annuals. She also was 22nd in the prelims (converted 4:56.74). Finally in individual events, junior Reese True (Kansas City, Mo.) led UNK in the 200-free with a 34th place finish in prelims (converted 2:02.05).

To end the night, the 400-medley relay team swam a converted 4:08.09 to place 16th and score six team points. True was lead, Milligan the third leg with senior Makayla Seal (Midwest City, Okla.) the anchor and freshman Jaesa Whitesell (Cheyenne, Wyo.) swimming second.

Action resumes Friday morning.
