Golden Bears Take First Crossover Game

Kearney, Neb. – A five-run fifth inning wasn't enough for Nebraska Kearney to catch Concordia-St. Paul, 13-5, Friday evening in Joplin, Mo.

The game was part of the MIAA/NSIC Crossover with the Lopers (10-13) heading over to Pittsburg State on Saturday to face Northern State (6-11) in a double header.

The Lopers big fifth featured two-run singles by both sophomore third baseman Alyssa Fortik (Raymond) and senior first baseman Leah Jurgens (Lincoln). UNK had two doubles among six hits in the frame, but CSP sophomore Emmy Bowne earned her fourth win by tossing four shut out innings.

The Golden Bear (8-13) offensive was good for 14 hits (11 singles) with freshman right fielder Lily Burke the star. The eight-hole hitter came in batting .161 but went 3 for 3 with a run and four RBI's. She had two doubles and the top three in the lineup was a combined 7 for 11 with six runs and an RBI.
