Lopers Fall to Top-Ranked Saints Teams in St. Augustine

Kearney, Neb. – The second and sixth ranked Flagler College Saints beat Nebraska Kearney, 7-0 (men) and 6-1 (Women), Tuesday afternoon in St. Augustine, Fla.

This was the Lopers second "Spring Break" dual; they finish up Thursday back in Orlando against Texas-Tyler.

The score between the sixth-ranked Saints (10-2) and the seventh-ranked Loper women (9-3) was closer than the score indicates as Flager won 7-5 at one doubles to tally the first team point. They then won three singles matches in three sets to clinch the dual.

Ranked 45th-nationally, seniors Alexis Bernthal (Boulder, Colo.) and Masha Hatouka (Belarus) won 6-3 at two doubles. Bernthal then rolled at four singles (-1, -1) to reach 124 career wins. Unfortunately, Flagler swept at five six and won in three sets between one and three singles.

The FC men (10-1) showed why they are ranked second nationally behind only in-state rival West Florida. They allowed seven combined points in doubles and won each singles match in straight sets.

The UT-Tyler Patriots are ranked 12th (men) and 31st (women). Both duals start at 9 a.m. Central.
