Academic All-District Team Announced

Kearney, Neb. – Ten members of the Nebraska Kearney cross country/track and field team recently earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

This award went through a change prior the 2022-23 academic year and had additional changes in the summer of 2023. To qualify now, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA and have placed in the top 50 in the region rankings in any individual event (cross, indoor or outdoor track) during the past season. Additionally, each school is allowed five qualifiers per gender.

Previously, Academic All-District nominees could've posted a 3.25 cumulative GPA, there was no game percentage requirement with honorees selected by a random vote. Now, all qualifiers receive Academic All-District distinction.

UNK's women's qualifiers are Grace Bonsall (Kearney), Ella Buhlke (Central City), Michalee Brownawell (Hershey), Brynn Hirschfeld (York) and Jordan Soto-Stopak (Albion) with the men's qualifiers being Payton Davis (David City), Juan Garcia (Grand Island), Brett Schoenhofer (Andover, Kan.), Nolan Studley (Hastings) and Zach Van Brocklin (Cortland). Bonsall and Hirschfeld are repeat winners with Studley moving onto the national ballot where he could earn Academic All-American honors.
