Lopers Down the Jets in Wichita; #24 Bods Up Sunday Afternoon

Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore Shaeley Reichmuth and freshman Aspen Steen tallied second half goals to help Nebraska Kearney down Newman, 2-0, Friday night in Wichita.

The Lopers move to 3-5-3 (1-3-1) while Jets fall to 0-9-2 (0-5-0).

To earn its second straight victory in Wichita, UNK got seven saves from junior keeper Susie Bovaird (Lincoln East) and an offense that provided 17 shots and six corners. Just five minutes into the second half, the Lopers sent a ball towards the Jets goal. While a NU defender managed to briefly get the ball away from a Loper in the box, a trailing Reichmuth (Omaha Skutt) quickly gained possession. She then used her left foot to find the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

With less than two minutes remaining, freshman Bella Spadavecchia (Greenville, S.C.) lined up for a corner. She found the near post where Steen (Commerce City) was there for the header. It also marked her first goal as a Loper. Reichmuth had a team-best four shots with Spadavecchia and freshman Vanna Reitsma (Papillion) at three apiece and junior Billie Forrest (Taylorsville, Utah) with two.

Newman was led by keeper Emma Lintecum (five saves) and forward Allison Hernandez (team-best four shots).

UNK heads to 24th-ranked Washburn (8-1-1, 3-1-0) Sunday afternoon.
