Nine Lopers Named to All-MIAA Squad

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its major postseason award winners and All-MIAA teams from the 2025-26 wrestling season.

Twenty-one student-athletes received postseason honors, highlighted by Central Oklahoma sweeping the leauge's three major postseason honors. 

The Bronchos won their sixth consecutive MIAA title after ending the regular season 5-0 against league opponents and 16-1 overall, with the team's 15th consecutive win stretching their school-record home winning streak to 33 in a row. Central Oklahoma received seven All-MIAA selections and swept the league's major postseason awards with Gabe Johnson named the Wrestler of the Year, Cole Mayfield selected as the Freshman of the Year and Bronchos Head Coach Todd Steidley voted the Coach of the Year by his peers.
 
The Bronchos had four "First Team" and three "Second Team" All-MIAA wrestlers. Nebraska Kearney led the league with nine All-MIAA honorees, three "First Team" and six "Second Team." In total, 15 of the 20 All-MIAA wrestlers are currently ranked within the Top 12 of their weight class.  
 
First Team selections are the league's dual meet champions in each weight class; the Second Team selections are the dual meet runners-up.
 
MIAA teams will next compete in NCAA Division II Super Region Championships hosted this Saturday and Sunday (Feb, 28 - March 1). Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State will head to Golden, Colo., for the Super Region VI Championship, hosted by Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. Central Oklahoma will host Central Missouri, Newman, Ouachita Baptist (Ark.), and seven others in the Super Region IV Championship Sunday in Edmond, Okla.

The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes from all six Super Region Championships will qualify for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, hosted March 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
