UNK Blanks the Blue Tigers, Falls to the Prairie Stars

Kearney, Neb. – Junior Chloe Odle threw a complete game four hit shutout to help Nebraska Kearney beat Lincoln, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in Branson, Mo.

The game was part of the "Grand Slam Classic" with UNK (10-15) falling to Illinois Springfield, 5-2, to start the day. The Lopers, after losing to LU and UIS on Friday, have another two games on Sunday.

Against the Blue Tigers (7-3), Odle worked around five walks and four singles to record her fifth win of the year. UNK scored two in the third, one in the fifth and another in the seventh to break a seven-game skid. Junior first baseman Gianna Galli (Stockton, Calif.) went 3 for 4 with four RBI's to more than lead the offense with Odle (Beloit, Kan.) fanning three.

In the early game, the Prairie Stars (14-6) busted open a 1-1 game with a two-run shot in the fifth and then added two insurance runs in the seventh. Junior Rosie Bartlett threw a complete game four hitter with third baseman Emmie Steward going 2 for 4 with three RBI's. UNK was led by sophomore right fielder Bailey Peterson (Oakdale, Calif.) who went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

The Lopers battle Minnesota Duluth and Truman State on Sunday.
