UNK Has Season High Run Total to Earn Second Win in Branson

Kearney, Neb. – Junior Chloe Odle threw another complete game, and junior Gianna Galli had three RBI's to help Nebraska Kearney beat Truman (Mo.) State, 12-3, Sunday afternoon in Branson, Mo.

This was the third and final day of the "Grand Slam Classic." Earlier on Sunday, the Lopers (11-16) lost to Minnesota-Duluth in six innings, 10-2.

Last Saturday in Kansas, TSU (8-15) posted a 3-1 victory over the Lopers. Things were different this time around as UNK managed its highest run total of the season thanks to seven hits, seven walks drawn and four hit batters. The Bulldogs had just one fewer hit, but Odle (Beloit, Kan.) shut them out in five innings.

In the fifth inning, three Lopers got plunked and Galli (Stockton, Calif.) had a two-run triple. Next, junior outfielder Zaria Brigham (Victoria, Texas) was 2 for 4 with two runs scored from the leadoff spot. Finally, Odle moved to 6-3 and recorded her fifth CG as she fanned four and walked only one in throwing 86 pitches.

UMD (14-5) recorded 16 hits, including five for extra bases, and got complete game five-hitter from senior Allyssa Williams. The 'Dawgs scored six runs over the final three innings with its top two hitters were a combined 6 for 8 with two runs and three RBI's.

Junior second baseman Alyssa Fortik (Raymond) paced the Lopers by going 2 for 2 with an RBI. UNK is now off until a March 17 double header at Metro State in Denver.
