Kearney, Neb. – Senior Alex Jaulin won in three sets at four singles and No. 37 Nebraska Kearney swept doubles to slip past 33rd-ranked Ouachita (Ark.) Baptist, 4-3, Saturday evening in Kearney.

Due to high winds the key Central Region dual was moved inside to the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center. Both the Lopers and Tigers are now 14-6 on the year with hopes of making the NCAA Tournament in May.

UNK's ninth-ranked pair of Andy Brisdon (U.K.) and Ivan Melnik (Germany) won 6-3 at one doubles over the 21st-ranked tandem of Aebi/Rasmussen. Junior Tom van den Dungen (Netherlands) and Ilan Fuentes (France) upset the 23rd-ranked duo of Buss/Osmond at two with junior Jakub Strzelecki (Poland) and freshman Cesare Carpano (Italy) scoring the final four points at three to win, 7-5.

Brisdon won in three sets at two (3-6, -3, -1) to make it 2-1 Lopers and then Carpano got past Osmond at five in three sets as well (-4, 2-6, -4). However, OBU countered by winning in three sets at both four and six to tie things up; they started singles with a sweep at one.

That left it up to Jaulin (Australia) who beat regionally ranked Moritz Buss 7-6 (-5) in set one. Buss tallied the last four points of set two to win 6-4 and then the pair battled again in the third. Finally, Jaulin closed things out with a 40-0 win to score the last point, 6-4.

UNK finishes up the regular season next Friday vs. the Newman Jets at 3 p.m. That dual was originally set for Sunday (April 26) but moved up two days.
