Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney sophomore
Katie Larghe scored her first career goal but Adams State scores three unanswered goals to beat the Lopers, 3-1, Thursday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
The Grizzles improve to 4-9 (2-7 RMAC) while the Lopers fall to 1-11-1 (0-8-1 RMAC). Earlier this year at Alamosa, Colo, UNK fell to Adams by a 1-0 score.
The Lopers came into tonight's game scoreless in its last five games; the team also hadn't scored at home since late in the season-opener vs. Wayne State. Larghe (Thornton, Colo,), who played her freshman year at Adams, changed stopped both of those streaks 2:25 into the contest when she took a pass from freshman
Jessica Schnoke (Papillion) and scored from about 15 yards out.
However, Adams tied the game four minutes later on Jessica Hellweg's fourth goal of the year. Two long goals, from Ashley Sales (12:24) and Amber Drumm (85:30), finished the scoring.
UNK was outshot 21-12, including 10-5 in shots on goal. Both Larghe and
Morgan Abert (Waupaca, Wisc.) had three shots a piece to pace the Lopers. Defensively, freshman keeper Marissa Niday (Fremont) had seven saves.
UNK hosts #22 ranked Colorado Mines Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
