Kearney, Neb. - Junior
Kelsey Werner had a career-high 15 kills, and three others had at least 10 kills, as the 4th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team beat Colorado School of Mines in four sets (-21, -9, 18-25, -18) Saturday afternoon at the Health & Sports Center.
The regular season finale for both teams, UNK improves to 31-1 and finishes 19-0 in the RMAC for the third time in school history. The Orediggers, who came into today second in the East Division, fall to 21-8 (13-6 RMAC).
Moment of the Match
UNK controlled the first two sets -- even having a perfect sideout effort (10 of 10) in the 2nd set -- but Mines used an 11-1 run to erase a 9-8 deficit and regain the momentum in the 3rd frame.
The Lopers jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the 4th set and back-to-back kills from Werner, who played more on the outside today instead of her usual right side spot, made it 19-14 and Mines was forced to use its second timeout.
