Kearney, Neb. – A short handed Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team got six saves from keeper
Marissa Niday to tie Regis, 0-0, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
UNK (1-4-1, 0-1-1 RMAC) stops a four game losing streak while the Rangers are now 4-1-1 (1-0-1 RMAC). Regis qualified for the 2008 NCAA Tournament and was ranked 23rd in the national preseason poll.
After regulation ended, the Lopers and Rangers played two 10 minute OT periods.
The Lopers came in today's game short handed as freshman midfielder
Alicia Crawford (Kearney Catholic) and junior midfielder
Talisha Krason (Kearney) were out with injury. At 34:45 of the first half, sophomore forward
Morgan Abert (Waupaca, Wisc.) collided with Regis' Heidi Boersma. Each left the field and didn't return.
Crawford and Abert are questionable for next weekend's games; Krason won't return to action until October.
The Rangers, who beat Angelo State of Texas 10-0 earlier this year, out shot the Lopers 18-2, including 6-1 in shots on goal. However, Regis missed several golden opportunities to score when its shots sailed wide or high of the net or were stopped by Niday.
UNK's only shot on goal came from Lincoln freshman Sara Chapman. On the day, Regis had nine corner kicks to one for the Lopers.
The Lopers play at Adams State Friday and CSU-Pueblo Sunday.
