Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams began the spring season with victories over Hastings College Saturday morning in Hastings.
The Loper men (2-1) won
7-2 with the women (1-1) sweeping the Broncos,
9-0.
Last weekend, the UNK women's dual with Air Force was canceled due to weather. UNK also has had an exhibition match with Nebraska this semester. In the fall, the Lopers lost to Mesa State.
In the fall, the Kearney men beat Nebraska Wesleyan and lost to Mesa.
Newcomers
Rodrigo Duncan (Monterrey, Mexico & Laredo J.C.) and
Kyle Conzemius (Lincoln Pius) each managed narrow wins in singles to keep the Broncos at bay.
In the third spot, Duncan managed a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over Vinny Banda with Conzemius recording a 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 win against Grant Nagaki in the fourth position.
The women had a much easier time as they allowed no more then five points in any match.
Both Loper teams are at Nebraska Wesleyan next Saturday.
