Tennis Sweep Bulldogs in Regular Season Finale

Revel Yehezkia
Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams prepared for the postseason by sweeping Concordia (Neb.) Tuesday afternoon at Harmon Park in Kearney.

The regular season finale for the Lopers, the men won 9-0 and the women came out on top by an 8-1 score. The men enter this weekend's RMAC Tournament with a 14-7 record with the UNK women on an 11-match win streak to be at 14-5 this spring.

Playing a dual for the first time in 10 days,  the men rolled through doubles to grab a 3-0 lead. In singles, freshman Rodrigo Duncan (Monterrey, Mexico) lost his first set at No. 3 singles, 6-2, but bounced back to breeze past Scott Schlesinger (6-0, 10-2).

At No. 2 singles, freshman Revel Yehezkia (Indonesia) managed a 7-6 win in his first set and then won 6-1 to claim the victory.

The women suffered a 9-8 (7-5) loss at No. 3 doubles as Sarah Ebert and Kim Francis edged the Loper pair of sophomore Melissa Lyster (McCook) and senior Claire Bryan (Katy, Texas).

However, none of the other matches were close as UNK has now every dual since mid-March.

In Albuquerque this weekend, the women are aiming for a third straight tourney title while the UNK men are looking for the program's fourth RMAC tournament championship.
