Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney track & field team ended its regular season this weekend by sending select athletes to three "Last Chance" meets in Crete, Hays, Kan. and Emporia, Kan.
The list of qualifiers for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships will come out early next week and these Last Chance meets are the final time an athlete can improve their time/mark.
On Friday at Doane, Thomas Neeman (9:17.58) and
Quinn Willet (9:21.97) each ran season-best times in the steeplechase to finish third and fifth, respectively. Both times rank among the 10 best in UNK history and put the pair in the top 40 in the nation.
At this same meet, sophomore
Allen Osborn ran a season-best 14.63 to be the runner up in the 110 hurdles. Finally, thrower
Dane Tobey won the shot put (55-8.25) and was second in the discus (167-7)
For the Loper women in Crete, thrower
Sam Murphy tied for first in the shot (48-0.75) and was second in the discus (140-1).
In Hays on Thursday, senior
Rich Mourer had a season-best 187-10 to be second in the hammer. Also, senior
Kiley Peterson was runner up in the shot (43-11.25).
