Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team shot a 54-hole total of 899 to finish 10th at the RMAC Fall Invite # 2 Monday at Wild Horse in Gothenburg.
The 54-hole,
two-day tournament featured not only all RMAC schools that sponsor men's golf but also many NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) members as well.
UNK was in a tie for fourth place after the first 36 holes, thanks to a pair of 296's, but shot a 307 on Tuesday to be passed by several schools. Fort Lewis (867) led the 20-team field with Colorado-Colorado Springs being the runner up (874) and Western New Mexico and Colorado State-Pueblo tying for third (883).
Lincoln junior
Justin Stonacek led the Lopers as he tied for 33rd place with an eight over par 224 (75-71-78). He was among the tournament leaders on par three holes, shooting one under. Gordy Diekman of St. Cloud State earned medalist honors thanks to a seven under par 209 (69-70-70).
Also for the Lopers, Washington junior
C.A. Everson tied for 40th (225/76-75-74) and led the entire field with 39 pars. Next, Fremont junior
Garrett Goldsberry came in 47th (227/71-79=77), North Platte sophomore
Jordan Arensdorf tied 49th (229/78-71-80) and Kearney senior
Alex Farrell tied for 68th (233/74-81-78).
The Lopers last fall tournament will be Oct. 18-19 in Silver City, N.M.
