Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team picked up its third-ever road win with a 2-0 decision over Colorado Christian Sunday afternoon in Lakewood.
UNK improves to 4-9-1 (2-7-1 RMAC) while the Cougars fall for a 10th straight time (2-14-1, 1-11 RMAC).
The Lopers previous road wins came last season at Wayne State and Colorado State-Pueblo. Today, sophomore
Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, Colo.) scored a rebound goal eight minutes in to give the Lopers the lead.
This marks Mercer's eighth goal of the year, a new school-record. In 2010, current sophomore
Becka Talcott (Denver, Colo.) scored seven goals in 18 games.
UNK, which beat CCU 1-0 in Kearney in September, out shot the Cougs 15-8 on the day. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Lopers pushed the lead to two when freshman
Lauren Hoeft (Holdrege) tallied her first collegiate goal the 69:37 mark.
Hoeft's goal was the first scored by a Loper, other than Mercer, since sophomore
Sarah Talcott (Denver, Colo.) scored a goal in the first meeting with CCU back on September 23rd.
Junior keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont) stopped two shots to record her third shut out of the season. Also, freshman
Tara Knowlton (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) led the team in shots with four.
UNK's final four regular season games are at home, starting next weekend against RMAC powers Metro State and Regis.
