Week 8 Preview: Soccer Hosts RMAC Powers

Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team returns home this weekend to face RMAC powers Metro State and Regis at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium.

The Lopers (4-9-1, 2-7-1 RMAC) face the Roadrunners Friday at 7:00 p.m. whie the Rangers  visit Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Fans that cannot make the trip to Kearney can follow the action via live stats

In its short history, UNK is 7-13-4 in Kearney and will need the home magic against Metro (11-3-1, 7-3-1 RMAC). The 'Runners beat the Lopers, 6-2, earlier this year in Denver and have one of the league's top freshman in forward Abby Rolph.

After defeating UNK, Metro lost at Colorado Mesa, 3-0, and Fort Lewis, 2-1, while beating Regis and Pueblo by 2-1 scores. Finally, Metro tied FLC, at home, 2-2 on October 9th.

Rolph (21 points; nine goals) currently leads the 'Runners in scoring with redshirt freshman Karisa Price (16 points; six goals) and junior Aubrey Fondy (9 points; three goals) others to watch. Rolph and Price both scored two goals in the win over the Lopers with Price having two assists as well.

In goal, junior Danielle Quigley is 11-3-1 with a 1.16 GAA and 61 saves. She began her career at Division I Buffalo.

The Lopers have given Regis (11-4, 8-3 RMAC) fits over the last two years. While UNK hasn't scored a single goal against the Rangers, the Lopers managed ties in 2009 (0-0) and again in 2010 (0-0).

This fall, Regis has won eight of its last nine games, the only setback being a 2-1 decision at rival Metro.

Five players have scored at least 12 points, led by senior Jordan Miller (24; nine goals) and sophomore Meghan Stuart (18; six goals). A two-keeper system is paced by junior Nicole Eddings (7-1, 0.79 GAA).

The regular season concludes next weekend when Adams State and UCCS come to town.
