Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team shot a 54-hole score of 908 to tie for seventh place at the UCO/Kickingbird Classic in Edmond, Okla.
Central Oklahoma hosted
the 19-team event at the par 70 KickingBird Golf Club.
Having its best finish in this tournament in years, UNK had rounds of 308, 303 and 297 to tie St. Mary's (Texas) for seventh. Among the teams the Lopers beat were West Texas A & M, future MIAA-rival Missouri Southern State and St. Edward's of Texas, who is receiving votes for the Top 25.
Fifth-ranked UCO won (865) with sixth-ranked Abilene Christian of Texas runner up (884) and Cameron U. of Oklahoma third (888). Rounding out the top six were Washburn (895), Midwestern State of Texas (904) and Colorado State-Pueblo (907).
Washington junior
C.A. Everson led UNK with a 12 over par 222, good for a 13th place tie. Recording 34 pars over the two days, he had rounds of 76, 76 and 73. Jason Timmis of UCO and Colby Shrum of Cameron tied for first, each shooting a five over par 215.

Alex Farrell tied for the tourney lead in birdies (10) and that helped him tie for 25th place (225/76-78-71). Next, North Platte sophomore
Jordan Arensdorf tied for 57th (232), Fremont junior
Garrett Goldsberry tied for 73rd (234) and Kansas senior
Nathan Gile tied for 78th (236).
UNK heads to Pueblo early next week for the DQ Wolf Pack Invitational.
