Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team scored an early goal to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 1-0, Friday afternoon in Grand Junction, Colo.
The RMAC opener for both, the Mavericks improve to 2-3 while the Lopers fall to 2-3.
At the 18 minute mark, Mesa senior midfielder Sara Islas scored off a corner kick, the fourth time this year UNK saw the opposition score first.
Kearney out shot Mesa, 3-2, in the first half but the Mavericks held an 8-2 advantage in this category after the break. CMU also had more corner kicks, 4-2, in the game.
For the Lopers, sophomore
Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, Colo.) took three of the team's five shots with junior keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont) recording four saves.
Mesa senior keeper Arielle Harris made two saves to record the shut out. Dating back to last season, UNK had scored a goal in six straight games.
UNK plays at 3rd-ranekd Fort Lewis Sunday.
