Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team scored two second half goals to slip past Fort Hays State, 2-1, Monday night in Kearney.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season. UNK had the rare experience of being the more experienced team as this was the Tigers second-ever game. They beat Newman (Kans.), 1-0, Saturday night at home.

Hays grabbed the lead 10 minutes in when sophomore transfer Joanne Glynn ran past the UNK defense and poked the ball past sophomore keeper Marissa Niday (Fremont).

After no solid scoring changes in the first half, Kearney was the aggressor after the break and that eventually paid dividends. At the 62nd minute mark, a foul on Hays allowed senior Morgan Abert (Waupaca, Wisc.) took take a direct kick from about 25 yards out and from the left sideline.

She managed to put the ball just above the out stretched hands of Tiger keeper Kelsey Gray to knot the game at one.

About 15 minuets later, Hastings freshman Ashtin Pawloski broke free from the Hays defense and was racing down the left side of the field. Closing in on Gray, she promptly passed the ball to sophomore Raliegh Mercer (Centennial, Colo.), who was wide open in front of the goal.

Despite Mercer's sixth career goal, UNK's night was not done as Niday needed to make four saves in the next 10 minutes to preserve the lead.

Overall, UNK recorded seven shots and had five corners. The two teams also combined for 30 fouls and three yellow cards.

This weekend, the Lopers play Minnesota-Crookston and Augustana in Sioux Fall, S.D.
