Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's team easily defeated Colorado Christian,
5-0, and Montana State-Billings,
5-1, to advance to the finals of the 2012 RMAC Tournament Friday afternoon in Denver, Colo.
The second-seeded Lopers (17-8) will battle top-seed and two-time defending tourney champ Western New Mexico in the finals Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Central.
The Mustangs beat fourth-seed Colorado Mesa, 5-1, in their semifinal match. Last Saturday in Pueblo, Colo., Western handed UNK a 6-3 loss.
Against the winless CCU Cougars Friday morning, UNK won the doubles matches by scores of 8-4, 8-3, and 8-1. Elkhorn senior

Jack Nicholson (No. 4) won their respective singles matches in straight sets to close out the dual.
MSUB figured to put up a tougher fight as the 'Jackets and Lopers have had a series of close duals in recent years. However, UNK won 8-6 and 8-5 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and then swept No. 3-5 singles in straight sets.
Besides Nicholson, Lopers to win singles matches were sophomore
Revel Yehezkia (Indonesia) and junior
Arin Enge (Olathe, Kans.).
The top-seeded Loper women received a first-round bye and battled fourth-seed Metro State late Friday night.
With a 5-1 win over the 'Runners, UNK advanced to Saturday's final where they'll take on the upset minded WNMU Mustangs, who beat second-seeded Colorado Mesa, 5-3, Friday afternoon.
Against Metro, the Lopers managed to lead 3-0 after doubles thanks to identical 9-7 wins in the top two spots.
RMAC Player of the Year Vanessa Guanwan (6-0, 6-2) and senior
Nickola Messbarger (7-6, 7-6), in the fifth spot, managed singles victories to record teh fourth and fifth team points.
Already this year, Kearney beat Western by a 7-2 score.
