Two Headers Help Soccer Beat Cougars

Box Score Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team scored three first half goals to get past Sioux Falls, 3-2, Sunday afternoon in South Dakota.
 
This marks the Lopers (1-1) fourth-ever road win. The Cougars, from the NSIC, drop to 0-2 on the season.
 
All five goals in the contest were scored over the first 45 minutes. Sophomore Delanie Phillips (Millard West) tallied the game winner at the 44:21 mark when she headed in a corner kick taken by sophomore Tara Knowlton (Lake St. Louis, Mo.).
 
UNK's first goal also came off a Knowlton corner as freshman Montanna Hosterman (Papillion LaVista South) headed the ball past Sioux Falls keeper Corrin Cook eight minutes into the contest.
 
About four minutes later, freshman Kristyn Otter (Millard North) got free and scored after taking a pass from Hosterman.  However, the Cougars tallied a goal about 25 seconds later and then tied things up at the 21:11 mark on a goal by Mikenna Greathouse.
 
For the day, UNK had advantages in shots (12-6) and corners (7-1).
 
The Lopers host Midland U. Wednesday evening.
