Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb – Missouri Southern State senior forward Megan Stueve recorded a hat trick to power the Lions over Nebraska-Kearney, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.
UNK (5-3-1, 0-2-1 MIAA) did manage a 1-0 win at the College of St. Mary Friday night in Omaha. Thanks to Stueve's heroics, the MSSU Lions improved to 2-5-1 (2-2-0 MIAA).
Coming off a win over Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern turned to its offensive leader to record a second straight MIAA win. Stueve now has scored half her team's goals on the season (5 of 10) and also taken a third of the Lions shots.
Against the Lopers, Stueve recorded goals at 25:47, 72:53 and 83:16 with two of her goals assisted by Tiffany Laughlin. Overall, Southern out shot the Lopers, 16-6, and also had a 3-1 advantage in corners.
Coming off the disabled list, Colorado junior forward Beck Talcott recorded three shots with freshman
McKinzie Rieber (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) taking two.
On Friday, Talcott (Cherry Creek H.S.) sent a crossing pass that sophomore
Ashtin Pawloski (Hastings) turned into the game's only goal about nine minutes into the second half.
Both the Lopers and Flames (3-7) took 11 shots with UNK having eight of those after the break. Senior keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont) recorded three saves with Pawloski taking three shots and North Platte freshman
Breezy Jahnke taking two.
UNK hosts Emporia State and Washburn next weekend.
