Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Central Oklahoma women's soccer team scored two goals three minutes apart to blank Nebraska-Kearney, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

With the win, the Bronchos get back to the .500 mark (6-6-1, 3-2-1) while the Lopers slip to 5-7-1 (2-4-1).

UNK controlled the first half and ended the day with more shots, 11-7, and also led in corners, 6-0. However, UCO headed in two goals in the blink of a an eye.

In the 39th minute, UCO stole the ball in the Loper end of the field. An ensuing shot by sophomore Caitlin Bond was stopped by a diving
Katelin Mielke (Omaha) but sophomore Quinn Tookey easily headed in the rebound.

Just three minutes later, the Kearney goal was unguarded. From the left side of the field, Bond sent a long pass that sophomore Kimberly Linder headed it for a 2-0 lead.
"We played well and created enough opportunities to score and just didn't put any in the back of the net," said UNK coach
John Maessner. "We then made two simple mistakes and they capitalized and scored two goals."

Normally the backup keeper for UCO, freshman Emily Thornbrugh made three saves to earn her second win in college. Eight different Lopers recorded a shot with seniors
Missy Everson (Pasco, Wash.) and
Becka Talcott (Denver, Colo.) each taking two.

UNK hosts Doane College Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Kearney then faces Missouri Western State and NW Missouri State on the road next weekend
