Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team scored two first half goals to beat Missouri Western State, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo.

Still battling for a spot in the eight-team MIAA Tournament, UNK went 1-0-1 this weekend to be at 6-8-2 (3-4-2). The Griffons, mean while, fall to 2-112 (0-7-1).

Recording seven shots in each half, UNK got on the board in the 22nd minute when sophomore
McKinzie Rieber (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) set up for a corner. She not only sent the ball to the goal but it hit the post and went in, her second goal of the fall.

About 20 minutes later, Arizona sophomore
Meaghan Pasbrig (Chandler, Ariz.) lined up for a free kick. Junior
Lauren Hoeft (Holdrege) used her head to record her first goal of the season.

Katelin Mielke (Omaha) and freshman
Kristen Rossi (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) combined for five saves and the shut out.

"This was a good weekend for us and keeps our post season hopes alive. It gives us momentum going into our final two matches," said UNK head coach
John Maessner. "We have all week at home to prepare for Lindenwood. We feel good about our chances and our goal is still to make it into the MIAA tournament and fight for a championship."
