Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore
Montanna Hosterman scored two goals to help the Nebraska-Kearney soccer team beat Emporia State, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Kansas.
This MIAA contest was originally set for Friday night but pushed back a day due to inclement weather. Beating the Hornets (5-4-1, 2-1-1) for a second straight season, UNK gets back to the .500 mark (5-5, 2-2). Â
A vastly improved ESU squad had shut out its last four opponents with a defense led by freshman keeper Yadira Rivera.
However, Hosterman (Papillion-LaVista South) gave UNK a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when she connected on a free kick. About 10 minutes later, she scored again off a pass from senior
Kirsti Rehler (Austin, Texas).
Hosterman now has team-highs in points (10) and goals (four) on the year.
UNK plays at Washburn Sunday afternoon.
