Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney and Washburn University women's soccer teams battled to a 0-0 tie Sunday afternoon in Topeka, Kans.

Both teams now have identical 5-5-1 (2-2-1) records to be tied for fourth in the MIAA. Central Missouri and Lindenwood are 4-0-1 and Emporia State is 2-1-2.

A day after beating Emporia State, 2-0, in regulation, UNK had to play 110 minutes today. The Lopers took five shots in each half, and two in the first overtime period, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Washburn also took 12 shots, all in regulation. Loper sophomore keeper Kaitlin Mielke (Millard West) stopped one shot to record her third shut out while the 'Bods Tori Fuglister recorded five saves to have her fourth shut out.

Senior forward Becka Talcott (Denver, Colo.) and sophomore midfielder Breezy Jahnke (North Platte) each took three shots for UNK with Talcott one of six Lopers to play all 110 minutes. Washburn, coming off a day of rest, had three go the distance.

"This was a great road trip for UNK soccer. We're really proud of our players for the effort they gave this weekend," said head coach John Maessner.  "After dealing with our game being postponed on Friday, having to play back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday and coming out of the weekend with a win and a tie against two tough opponents, we're just very happy with the way the team performed."

Kearney returns home next weekend to play Northeastern State (Friday) and Central Oklahoma (Sunday), two of the MIAA preseason favorites.
