Tennis Sweeps Cardinals in G.I.

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney tennis teams both beat William Jewell College (Mo.) Friday night at the Grand Island Tennis Center.
 
The Loper men (5-2) posted a 6-3 victory while the UNK women remain perfect (4-0) thanks to a 5-4 decision.
 
The seven hour dual saw junior Yeswanth Nadella (India) post a 6-7, 6-1, 10-6 win at No. 1 singles after pairing with Grand Island native John Steinke to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
 
Newcomer Dan Faria (Portugal) recorded a key win as well as he got by Max Cooper at No. 6 singles (3-6, 7-6, 10-7).
 
On the women's side, the deciding point came early on as sophomore Tealyn Trimble (Kearney H.S.) and Kristin Weems (Arlington, Texas) won 9-8 at No. 3 doubles. That gave UNK a 2-1 lead and they secured the dual thanks to winning in straight sets at No. 1-3 singles.
 
Kearney hosts former RMAC rival Colorado Christian Saturday at three and then travels to Kansas on Sunday to face SE Oklahoma State.
